Aquamarine are expensive and rare.  It’s a blue or cyan variety of beryl, and iron gives the aquamarine its color.  Many people seek the very light blue color of aquamarine, but at its finest, aquamarine should be a rather dark blue.  Aquamarine has a wonderful shine and good hardness (7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale).  Aquamarine is very tough and, to a large extent, it’s hard to scratch.
