Topaz Jewelry – World of Gemstones
Topaz Jewelry – A World of Colors
Topaz occurs in many colors including yellow, honey-yellow, yellow-brown, brown, green, blue, light blue, pink, peach, champagne, salmon, and cherry red. It is also pleochroic (it can show different colors in different crystal directions). Gemologist have found completely colorless topaz in very large crystals, some of them weighing in the tons.
Jewelers will refer to the color varieties of topaz by hue name—blue topaz, white topaz, pink topaz, etc. There are, however, also a couple of special trade names. Imperial topaz is a medium reddish orange to orange-red. In fact, this is one of the most expensive colors for topaz. Sherry topaz is a yellowish brown or brownish yellow to orange. Moreover, gemologist classify topaz in this color range as precious topaz.
Blue topaz is the most common color used in jewelry and is typically colorless topaz that was created through radiation and heating. Schwanke-Kasten has a number of topaz offerings available in blue and white. Furthermore, we carry topaz jewelry as necklaces, bracelets and rings.
